Our story
We are Marsha and Jorge, the founders of Casa Bonita.
Our journey began in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, when we opened our very first store after years of traveling throughout Mexico, connecting with local artisans and falling in love with their craft.
As we immersed ourselves in Mexico's art and culture, we felt a pull to share that beauty and bring it into people's homes. And so, Casa Bonita was born.

Our very first shop in Stover, Missouri.
In 1998 we opened the doors to our first shop, filling the quaint 400 ft² space with some of our favorite finds from Oaxaca, Guanajuato and Jalisco. Among them were traditional barro negro from San Bartolo Coyotepec, vibrant hand-painted mayólica vases, and the popular circle of friends candle holders.
We poured everything into that space, raising our young daughter there as Casa Bonita began to take shape.

How Casa Bonita grew
The next chapter, expanding our collection.
Two years later we moved into a larger space just a few streets from the original shop, which let us widen our collection.
We added wooden furniture built by hand with carving and metalwork, lighting made of hand-blown glass and natural onyx, and a much broader range of outdoor pottery.
Casa Bonita comes to Los Cabos, Mexico.
In 2008 we opened our Los Cabos showroom. It sits in the quiet neighborhood of El Tule, inside the Glass Factory Plaza, just off the main highway between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
Across 14,000 square feet we put handcrafted Mexican furniture and decor alongside international brands like La-Z-Boy, Sunset West and Ratana, from sofas and outdoor patio sets through to rugs and mattresses.
Linens, textiles and the Casa Bonita boutique.
Since 2017 the Casa Bonita plaza in Los Cabos has grown to include textiles and linens, from bedding and towels to table linens and decorative pillows, as well as clothing in natural fibers like cotton and linen.
Chalala, our coffee bar.
The day carries on at Chalala, with organic coffee from the foothills of Chiapas and fresh pastries served in the shaded courtyard.

We collect pieces with history
and cherish the people we’ve come to know along the way.
What you will find in Los Cabos.
The Los Cabos showroom brings together trusted international names like La-Z-Boy, Sunset West, and Ratana alongside pieces produced in limited quantities and sourced from small makers.
That second half is the part we spend the most time on. Pottery, lighting, textiles and carved wood, bought from artisans we call friends and the communities they represent, most of them people we have worked with for years.

The people behind Casa Bonita.
We are a close-knit team that cares about what we do and the people we do it with.
For over 25 years, with the support of our team and lasting relationships with some of our very first customers and suppliers, we have had the joy of helping transform thousands of homes while sharing the beauty of Mexican design.
