Our journey began in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, when we opened our very first store after years of traveling throughout Mexico, connecting with local artisans and falling in love with their craft. As we immersed ourselves in Mexicoâs rich art and culture, we felt an undeniable pull to share that beauty and bring it into peopleâs homes. And so, Casa Bonita was born
In 1998, we opened the doors to our first shop, filling the quaint 400 ft² space with some of our favorite finds from Oaxaca, Guanajuato, and Jalisco. Among them were traditional âbarro negroâ from San Bartolo Coyotepec, vibrant handpainted mayĂłlica vases, and the popular circle of friends candle holders.
We poured our hearts into that little shop, raising our toddler there and imagining what Casa Bonita could become.
Two years later, the prime location weâd been eyeingâjust a few streets from our original shopâbecame available. With ten times the room and far more visibility, it felt like weâd unlocked the next chapter of Casa Bonita.
We incorporated wooden furniture crafted by hand with beautiful carvings and metalwork, romantic lighting made of hand-blown glass and natural onyx stone, and an even broader selection of elegant outdoor pottery. As our customer base grew and our collection evolved, so did our vision.
In 2008, we opened what is now our flagship store in Los Cabos. Nestled in the quiet neighborhood of El Tule, our store sits within the Glass Factory Plaza, just off the main highway between Cabo San Lucas and San JosĂŠ del Cabo.
Here, we expanded our collection to meet the growing needs of our customers, blending the handcrafted artistry of Mexican furniture and decor with beloved international brands like La-Z-Boy, Sunset West, and Ratanaâ offering everything from sofas and outdoor patio sets to rugs, mattresses, and more.
For over 25 yearsâand with the support of our incredible team and lasting relationships with some of our very first customers and suppliersâweâve had the joy of helping transform thousands of homes while sharing the beauty and richness of Mexican design.
