  • Mattress Sizing: U.S. and Mexico Comparison

Having Casa Bonita locations both in the United States and in Mexico, we’ve had our fair share of confusions and issues regarding the different sizing of mattresses in the two countries. Nevertheless, we have learned to cope with these differences and, as always, want to make your life easier by telling you everything you need to know about the names and sizes of mattresses in the US versus in Mexico.

American Mattress measurements (in inches):

  • Twin: 38” x 74”
  • Twin Extra Long/ California: 38” x 80”
  • Full/ Double: 54” x 74”
  • Queen: 60” x 80”
  • King: 76” x 80”
  • California King: 72” x 84”

Mexican Mattress Measurements:

  • Individual: 39.37” x 74.80” (1.00m x 1.90m)
  • Matrimonial: 53.15” x 74.80” (1.35m x 1.90m)
  • Queen: 59.06” x 74.80” (1.50m x 1.90m)
  • King: 74.80” x 78.74” (1.90m x 2.00m)

As you can see from the measurements, the Individual mattress in Mexico is a bit larger than the American Twin, while the Mexican Matrimonial, Queen, and King are slightly smaller than their American counterparts (the Full, Queen, and King).

Knowing this information is very useful when purchasing mattresses for your home in Mexico or when purchasing sheets and blankets in Mexico for your beds in the US because, although the difference in sizing is minimal, your American bedding may not fit your Mexican mattress and vice versa.
